Guidance of Immigration Solicitors Regarding an In Transit Visa

If you pass through the UK while travelling to another country, you will be considered as transiting through the UK. There are basically two types of transit:-

  • Airside:-
    • In this type of transit, you arrive on a flight, remain in the arrival lounge and depart on another flight from the same airport without passing through immigration control.
    • According to Immigration solicitors, you can transit through the UK airside without a visa if:-
      • Your country is NOT covered by the DATV system.
      • You are considered as stateless under the 1954 UN Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons.
      • You hold a valid travel document issued by the government.
    • You can apply for a direct airside transit visa by submitting a VAF6 Form with biometric information such as fingerprints and facial image.
  • Landside:-
    • In this type of transit you arrive in a flight, pass through immigrations control and the leave the UK after 48 hours. You can transit through the UK landside without a visa if:-
      • You are not a visa national.
      • You hold a valid travel document issued by the government.
      • If you are visitor in transit and intend to stay in the UK for less than 48 hours. You should contact Immigration Solicitors to clarify your status.
